The Turkish actor and model Murat Yıldırım was a guest at Baku.

The Turkish guest participated in the premiere of the film “Kırımlı” at ‘28 Cinema’. Before watching the movie "Kırımlı" M. Yıldırım attended a press conference, for the media representatives. During the event M. Yıldırım and the producer of the film Ayfel Özgürel, spoke about the film and answered questions by the media. M. Yıldırım as well, said that he was very happy with this visit and Baku is very nice. After the press conference M. Yıldırım was photographed with his fans. In the end, the famous actor attended the first presentation of the film "Kırımlı" in Azerbaijan and joined watching the movie.
The film is talking about the human tragedy and sufferings of the Tatar war prisoners, held as captives in German prison camps, during World War II .

M. Yıldırım, answered Showlife.az’s questions.

SL : Selma Ergeç and Baki Davrak, the other leading actors of the film did not come to Baku. What was the reason for this?
MY : Selma and Baki sent greetings to you. They could not attend today’s presentation, as they had work. They both work on series and theatre. I say I’m closer to this film, I had to come.

SL : What are your first impressions of Azerbaijan and what do you know about Azerbaijani cinema?
MY : For the first time, my impressions are very rich. For us, here is considered to be a second homeland. I have heard very good things about Azerbaijan from Turkish artists, friends of mine. I myself think so, too. But unfortunately, about your cinema I can’t say anything, because I have no information. I will sound ridiculous, if I say something without information.

SL : Before this, we have seen you only in films with love themes. Is it more difficult to portray a role in a war film, or in a love movie?
MY : While seeing a work, I do not think of its difficult and easy aspects. I'm thinking how to make it have more pleasure. Therefore, the word ‘hard’ is unknown to me. I love movies regardless of the theme. In the film “Kırımlı” there is also a love story. Especially the 2nd half of the film is completely based on love. In Baku we think we’ll come once more, hopefully. Next time you will encounter with a romantic comedy film. It is very pleasant for an actor to portray roles in various themed films. You have not seen me in a role like the one, I will portray in the next film. This movie is a completely different style.

SL : How was the film "Kırımlı" welcomed in Turkey?
MY : "Kırımlı" talks about the fights and difficulties of Crimean, Azeri, Turks, lived in Turkmenistan. Here is also a man’s drama in the foreground. In this film, there are also a lot of interesting points for Azerbaijan. It is possible that in Turkey, it will be again in cinemas in May. Because we received many requests for this. Some people who didn’t watch it, were not aware about it. Frankly speaking, from those who watched it, 90% liked it.

SL : You completed University Faculty of Mechanical Engineers. Who discovered you as an actor?
MY : I came to Istanbul to study mechanical engineering. I also played different roles in the University theatre. So, there I fell in love with acting, I loved this art. Never thought to go on television screens. Just on the theatrical stage, I loved theater. Then all of a sudden, I saw myself on TV. Thus, I came to the cinema. And what happened was good. I finished university , but I’ve never practiced engineering.

SL : You are loved a lot in Georgia. Last year, when you were in Georgia, coincidentally we were staying at the same hotel. There were Georgian girls there and journalists very anxious to meet you. Did you meet them?
MY : We come from the same origin with you. However, Georgian loves us due to the fact, that we are warm-blooded. People’s friendliness this time hear, feel. Between the two countries I cannot say, but between nations there is friendliness with one another. That's what I've witnessed, many countries have given us sincerity back. Georgians are also people who love friendliness. For that reason, they love both you and us. To me, being loved is probably a motivation for being here. I tried to meet all my fans, who arrived to join me. Because when meeting with fans abroad, one experiences specially emotional moments. People from different religions, different nations, they want themselves to express their love, they speak Turkish. This is also strange for a human, it gives you joyous feelings. A 70-years old lady came to Georgia once, she spoke Turkish. I asked her how she knew the turkish language. She answered that she watches Turkish series. Then she said, that she watched in my series “Aşk ve Ceza”, a scene between mother and son. She said that she did not have a good relationship with her son. After watching the scene, she called her son and they reconciled. I was very impressed by this fact. Our work is light, do not need to know the language. Like cinema, television is also very important. Gives you the ability to communicate with a lot of people. Now Turkish culture began to spread all over the world. These are very nice things. It is very gratifying for all of us.

SL : Is the film “Kırımlı” expected to be released in other countries?
MY : Of course, it will. It will participate in festivals. Actually, it has already started. An offer from Los Angeles has arrived to us. It will be among the choices for the International Turkish Film Festival. But we will go to Los Angeles. We expect invitations from Turks all over the world. At the same time, we will go to other countries, we are ready to establish cooperation. Last time in Georgia, I shot an advertisment for the children suffering from leukemia. The director is nominated for an ‘Oscar’. He also had the idea to do something for the children, me too. Our ideas coincided. We attended film festival in Dubai. We met so many people.

SL : How did you find the film "Kırımlı" as a person?
MY : Wait for this film, be patient, don’t hope you have learned what it means to human life. Believe it. We stayed on the mountain during the 9 weeks of shooting. I was alone in the caravan. I thought that such an opportunity was to come to me? We had 2-3 days off. But in 9 weeks on the mountains, a snowy place is different to stay alone. The place and conditions, in which a person approaches reviews. I'm trying to get relaxation in any case. Both, during and after the shooting of this film, relaxing from the job, I learned to look at the beautiful side of difficult things.

SL : Would you like to try yourself as a director in the future?
MY : Actually, I don’t think so. I have today and tomorrow. I don’t think about tomorrow. This road leads me to where? I have no idea about it. Simply a beautiful dream. I want to play big and beautiful films. This is my dream. What I’ll do tomorrow, setting its program today, for implementing it tomorrow. I don’t know if directing would or wouldn’t be for the end of the road. Because, in the time I was in engineering, the way of acting came. Therefore, it is impossible to know such things. May only beautiful tomorrows to come.

SL : In the Turkish cinema now, singers have been included in the scenes of the films. Singing along with directing and acting are fields in which you see yourself?
MY : This is an exciting issue for an actor. The motive of the series is rating. Of course, the payment can be good and bad, the key point is that the actor and director in any case should stand on their own feet. Which is important for an actor is to play the role. Whether someone watches or not, the series or film. If an actor plays well a role, needed to be estimated by the people. People are needed for this. Every time you get a chance, to be able to continue acting. This is what is important.

SL : Definitely you're looking for, do you want to play a role and a character?
MY : I want to say, that I want so much to play in a film. This means a variety of issues, I want to play different roles. Every actor in a nice film wants to take interesting part of the project.

- There is a change in your external appearance. This is due to the film?
MY : I lost weight for the film. I’ve been on a diet and I noticeably lost weight. Then also, I decided to keep on. It is very important for an actor to live healthy.

SL : In the film"Kırımlı" you speak German. Do you know German?
MY : I don’t know even a word in German, I will never speak. I have never made a German joke (laughing). Sometimes it happens that an actor makes jokes to friends. I was too far away from the German language. But I thank Selma and Baki, who helped me in the film. Every day at shooting, we were repeating German words and phrases. I have to say that, in scenes where could be spoken Turkish, I spoke German, it was good (laughing). In fact, the German language is difficult. Now, for example, if you want me to say any word of the film again, not falling to remember.

SL : In Turkey a lot of actors in series don’t gain success in a film. If you were with Beren Saat, your film couldn’t gain ratings related to this meeting?
MY: I think such a film could have a high number of viewers. I disagree with something like that the stars of series don’t gain success in a film. Cinema is a project. Beren Saat is also a very good actress. She has a lot of very good roles. Almost all good actors have already played in series.

SL : After you had finished shooting, which one of the Turkish films did you watch?
MY : It was the film "Mucize"(Miracle), I did not have time to watch. I saw the film "Bana masala nlatma" (Don’t tell me fairy tales), it was very good. As I know, on March 12 the vision will start at ‘28 Cinema’. In the meantime, I will come back to Baku at the end of March. I will attend the film "Kocan Kadar Konuş". The premiere of the film will be at ‘28 Cinema’. Soon you will see me in series.

SL : In "Kırımlı", which was also the scene affected you the most?
MY : When this film was starting, we had nothing related to Crimea in the world cinema. There were several people acquainted with some things. But there weren’t mostly in mass and individual media. We've started shooting one week after the world started talking about Crimea. I said, look at the audience for this film, it should not look just as a retreat for Crimea. Nothing connected to Crimea in anyone’s mind, developing such a project, the name of the movie would be "Kırımlı". On a sudden, the entire world begins to speak about Crimea. Maybe it was needed. Of course, we can’t do anything with the movie. But we had to do something in terms of art. One message came to me regarding to this. The film is not at all political. There could be reactions from Russia and Germany. But the Germans themselves, to apologize more, shoot movies, talking about the World War II. Even Hitler has been in many German movies. Maybe the film "Kırımlı" be released also in Germany. Turks there were once in Crimea. But this film has nothing to do with it and not such an issue on the agenda. This film is a story that happened.
